Dolceacqua Superiore DOC Luvaira

The nose reveals an excellent intensity and complexity with an incredible finesse that make it unique and unmistakable. Hints vary from the fruitiness of merelli (wild strawberries) to raspberries, strawberries and cassis. Floral of wilted rose. Spicy of pink pepper, leather and tobacco. The palate is dry, warm but well balanced with excellent softness; fresh with good tannin and good flavour. Full-bodied with excellent balance, good intensity and excellent aromatic persistence, it closes with extraordinary finesse. In evolution with an ageing of 10 years.

VINE: 100% Rossese. SOIL TYPE: Shale – clay – limestone. PAIRINGS: Game, red meats, lamb, typical cuisine, cheeses. AVERAGE PLANTING DENSITY: 5000 vines per hectare. ORIGIN: Vineyards located in Località Luvaira in San Biagio della Cima, obtained from vines planted in 1905. EXPOSURE: Situated on the top of the hill where exposure to the sun is practically total, it differs from PoggioPini not only in terms of soil composition but also in terms of microclimatic conditions. The Luvaira vineyard is located in a higher position and does not directly feel the influence of the sea wind. VINIFICATION: Part of the initial grapes are not destemmed, in percentages that can vary according to vintage from 50% to 60%; fermentation on the skins for about 12/15 days at a constant temperature of 26°/28°C. AGING: 12 months in steel tanks and 8 months of refining in the bottle. CULTIVATION NOTES: Cultivated in strips using the alberello system.
