The Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore DOC Poggio Pini is obtained from a vineyard of 13,000 m2, of which around 6,000 m2 are planted with century-old plants.
Among the most important of the Rossese di Dolceacqua crus, with its east and south facing slopes, the ground is also positioned on terraces with slopes of 60%. A thinning out of the grapes on the vines with a century old vineyard and a total yield of 5,000 kg per hectare give the wine a bouquet and characteristics that make it unmistakable among other Rossese wines.
Of intense ruby red colour, its bouquet is spicy, fruity and toasted, with hints of pepper, cinnamon, mulberry, blackberries and tobacco. With quite strong acidity, it has good body on the palate, a discreet taste of tannin and a good full body, all of which linked by a pleasant harmonic feel.
Even this Rossese Superiore of ours is not kept in wood and does not undergo filtering and has a refinement in the bottle of at least three months before being put on sale. It evolves with an 8 to 10 year aging.
